The private book collection of P. Govinda Pillai, an avid and extraordinary bibliophile, has been transformed into a reference library for the benefit of the public. With a collection of approximately 20,000 books, this library is one of the largest private libraries in Kerala. Pillai’s unwavering passion for knowledge embraced a wide range of subjects, leaving no field untouched. The collection includes works on politics, science, literature, philosophy, religion, geopolitics, economics, and finance, among others.

The library houses books in multiple languages, including English, Malayalam, Sanskrit, Hindi, and Tamil. Located in Subhash Nagar, the library functions on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Membership can be obtained upon payment of a fee of ₹100.

Preliminary steps have also been initiated for the construction of a dedicated building for the library and a research center on land allotted by the State Government at Thycaud in Thiruvananthapuram.
